Welcome Volunteers!
Our Chapter supports several different groups and organizations. The events include our Introductory and Intermediate Fly Tying classes, organizing and hosting fly fishing events for TVA staff and invited guests, the Buzz Buffington Youth Fly Fishing 101 and our Women on the Pond day of learning and fishing. We have been able to do these types of events with the support of our talented and gracious Volunteers. We appreciate each and every one of you and the efforts needed to help make each of our events a success.

Volunteers needed for a New Youth Fly Fishing Event Saturday, June 6th 9 am - 3 pm
We have taken our Kids Free Fishing Day to the next level. We want to help teach the next generation fly fishers and conservationist. At this event participants will learn the very basics of the fly rod, fly line, leader, tippet and knots needed to connect to their fly. Casting on the Clinch River is critical. With the clear water on low generation you need to be able stretch it out there to reach those spooky trout. There will be quality time spent to help our young angles be successful and confident with their casting. This event will focus education and continue with aquatic insects found in the Clinch and their life cycles. We will need volunteers for each area along with food preparation, loading of the equipment trailer the day before at the Engineering Lab , set up the morning of and then tear down and load out of equipment back to the lab in Norris. Volunteers will arrive early at 7 am for set up, participants will arrive 8 am to sign in. We will register a max of 20 participants between the ages of 10 yr and 16 yr. Lunch will be served approximately 1:30 pm. We hope you will join us for this exciting event. We are looking for the following breakdown on volunteers: 10 river guides, 3 food prep, 1 aquatic insect review, 2 for equipment & knots and 6 for casting instruction. In addition to the mentioned areas we will need help in loading the trailer on Friday, June 5th. We will meet at 4 pm at the Engineering Lab in Norris. Take down, loading the trailer and unloading equipment at the Lab will follow the event.
Volunteers needed for TVA media day Toccoa River Wednesday, June 3rd
We are seeking volunteers to help with another day of fly fishing for our valuable partner TVA. We have provided equipment and volunteers to assist TVA staffers and invited guests on the South Holston and the Toccoa rivers. This year we will be back on the Toccoa in Northern GA. This is an all day event, we will be meeting at the Cracker Barrel in Lenoir City, TN and leaving from there by 5:30 am. We have a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive to our location in GA. We will car pool as best we can, if you drive; our Chapter will reimburse you for your gas expense. Attendees will arrive approximately 9:00 to 9:30. After some announcements we will get folks geared up and in the river. The GA Fish and Game will stock the river prior to the event with some quality fish. Coffee and pastries in the morning and a lunch will be provided by TVA. The event is generally over by 2:00 pm.
